ARTIST SPOTLIGHT:
It’s No Secret by Eddie Casper, released via Skyerush Records.
Eddie Casper was raised with a musical upbringing of classic rock and twee pop. He spent his teenage years huddled up in his bedroom dissecting the pop-song formula and honing his skills as a self-taught multi-instrumentalist. Across several years, Casper gradually pieced together his debut full-length: It’s No Secret, released on the eve of his 21st birthday.
It’s No Secret is a focused, 12-track concept album that serves as a homage to the 1960s pop and rock that formed the basis of his musical upbringing. Brimming with Beatles-esque grooves, Beach Boys harmonies, and kitsch self-awareness, It’s No Secret is as playful as it is serious. Thematically, the album explores the themes of love and heartbreak. Each of the 12 tracks serve as vignettes into different relationships, from the heartbreak of ‘Not Today’, to the unrequited love of ‘Dear Daisy’, or the euphoric feeling of falling for someone on the titular track ‘It’s No Secret’. Together, the 12 tracks create a holistic view of love in all its forms; all its highs and all its lows.
The LP’s title plays upon Casper’s furtive approach to composing the album, the bulk of which was recorded in the spare room of his parent’s home. “Once I finished the album, I put it on a CD and gave it to my parents, who didn’t even know I had been recording a full album,” laughs Casper. “Even once the album was released, I had close friends message me stating that they didn’t even know I was a musician – the album’s title is definitely a joke in that respect!”
It’s No Secret, the first release on Skyerush Records, can now be streamed on all major streaming services:
